Not posted.

Not posted on here for a while. I've finally finished Death Note. My overall feelings to it are that it's really good but I feel somewhat unsatisfied with the ending. Maybe because the first 5 volumes are unbeatable in terms of the story. Now though it's time to move on to the next manga. I've started Naruto. I've only started this due to a lot of people recommending it. It may just be overrated but I'd like to find that out for myself.

Death Note - update.

Today the 6th volume of Death Note Black edition arrived so tonight's job is to Finnish the story. The one thing I will say about Death Note is (SPOILER) after L's death the story looses its momentum a little and get really complicated where you have to remember rules of the Death Note. It's still good but I feel that L' was just too big a character to kill off as early has he was. Anyway final volume to read I hope the ending is as good as the start.

DearS

DearS, an alien race who look suspiciously like humans, have crash landed on Earth! Now they have to integrate into society by getting jobs or going to school. Luckily for Takeya, he gets to meet one, and one that needs an education! This is not-so-serious manga that I personally found really funny. The DearS are basically female slaves that must do whatever the master says. Obviously, Takeya and co have some really funny times to come and it's funny from volume 1 - volume 8. I won't spoil the story but I found it really amusing and especially Tekeya' sex starved teacher who will do anything to educate her pupils in the Kama sutra! A must have read for any Manga fanatic!

Gunsmith Cats

Gunsmith Cats, by Kenichi Sonoda and published by Dark Horse Manga, is a story of a young bounty hunter named Rally Vincent. She also runs a Gun shop with her friend Minnie May. I really like this Manga and reminds me of old American cops and robbers films such as Starskey and Hutch. It's full of cars, guns and shoot-out and loads of action. The story is presented well and the art work is clear and easy to follow. I would say its for 15+ ages, I'm 24 and I really liked it although it does have some scenes I thought a bit risky but that's Manga for you. I do like the car chase scenes and Rally Vincents car of choice is a 1969 Ford Mustang! Nice! Anyway be sure to check this one out as I personally think that anyone with an interest in Manga will like it. There is an Anime series but it's hard to find being in the U.K so those of you over the pond should have more luck than me.

Today I thank god for Fan subs. If it wasn't for these great translators it would be hard for the English speaking world to enjoy the genius that is Manga/Anime. It also means I can watch .HACK//SIGN which is really good and stays true to the Manga in terms of its story and fantastic art work.

"In every world, gods make the rules. You will fall before my fake rules, and for the sin of going against the new world's god" - Light Yagami

Death Note

Genius Manga now and a big one at that! First featured in Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, it spans 12 volumes or if you buy the Black Edition it's six volumes. It was also made into live action films and Anime series. Why you may ask? It's an amazing story with too much to tell but in a nut shell the story is about a grade A student, Light Yagami, who comes across a Death Note, dropped from the heavens by a Shinigami, and who's name should be written in the note book will die. Light then decides to use the note book to rid the world of evil, but in doing so he starts to become the very thing he fights against. A thrilling story, and very well written, it demands to read over and over again. You will find it hard to find a better story than this in Manga. I have 4 of the 6 Black Editions but I will be buying the last 2 shortly and will be blogging it as soon as I have read the full story.

Peace Maker

One of my favourite Manga, written by Nanae Chrono, is Peace Maker. Set in 19th century Japan, Peace Maker is the story of a boy, Ichimura Tetaunoauke, who wants revenge on the people who killed his parents. To do this he joins the Shinsengumi, a special forces police unit, to train and become stronger. I really like the art style in this Manga and is deep in Japanese history and it's social structure before the Meiji Restoration. The story of the boy and his brother is both funny and serious and was a difficult but fun read. It has few volumes which is good because I had to read it twice to fully understand it.

MW

Hold on to your hats! MW, written by Osamu Tezuka, is his darkest work. After reading it I had to admit that there is a line and this book just crossed it! About a disturbed man who rapes, murders and deceives people trying find a chemical weapon called "MW" and to add another twist he is also gay. I will not tell you the story because it's one of those books you just have to read. It's very graphic, very explicit but also a fantastic read. Took me a while to get hold of as it's practically unheard of in the UK.

.hack

To kick off my Manga blog I'm going to start with the popular .hack//. It's pronounced dot hack but the way it's presented is relevant. The book is about unique RPG or role playing game. The characters in the various stories play the game using a VR headset. Once the VR headset is on they are instantly taken to The World. The World is a fictional, virtual world where there are towns, caves and mountains to explore and quest in or on. The rules of RPGs apply such as levelling up etc. All is well until one day someone dies playing the game and it's up to main characters to find out why. There are many .hack books and stories, I have them all except a few, and all are fantastic books. I recommend them as a starting point for newcomers to the Genre.
